Gauss Summation

MA - Algebra on Instagram: "The story behind this formula is as fascinating as the formula itself. The young Carl Friedrich Gauss, a mathematical genius, discovered this formula at around the age of seven. Legend has it that his teacher kept the class busy by asking them to add all the numbers from 1 to 100. While the other students laboriously tackled the problem, Gauss immediately recognized a pattern. He noticed that the numbers could be divided into pairs that each added up to the same sum: 1 + 100, 2 + 99, 3 + 98, and so on. Each of these pairs added up to the same number. This led Gauss to realize that the problem could be solved much faster by multiplying the number of pairs by the sum of one pair. This enabled him to find the solution almost instantly. This insight led to the development of Gauss's formula, which is now a fundamental method in mathematics. It shows how complex problems can be solved in an elegant way by recognizing patterns and symmetries. The formula is an
